Nikkei Nexus
Why Now?
Nikkei Nexus was born from a simple but urgent observation: while Japanese Americans have shaped this country in extraordinary ways — the quiet everyday acts of building community — our collective story has never fully caught up to who we are today. At a 2026 networking dinner, that included over sixty people ranging from 18 to 80 year olds, we found a common call to action.
We came together to build what didn't yet exist: a dedicated home for the next chapter of our collective identity, Americans with Japanese heritage or close cultural ties. We are inclusive by design — welcoming every generation, every mixed-heritage family, every newly arrived Nikkei, and every person still figuring out what their Japanese ancestry or connection means to them.
We are forward-looking by intent, investing in emerging leaders, creators, and public servants who will carry this culture into the future. We are collaborative by conviction, working hand-in-hand with the remarkable organizations and initiatives already serving our community — because a rising tide lifts all boats, and the future of Nikkei America is something to build together.
